Mindfulness Meditation Overview

Mindfulness meditation is about bringing awareness to your present experience by noticing, attending to, and observing your thoughts and feelings in a nonjudgmental way. Mindfulness Meditation has ancient buddhist roots and was clinically innovated by Jon Kabat-Zinn who founded the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in the late 1970’s. Since then there have been countless research studies supporting the effectiveness and transformative effects of meditation. Research has shown that regular meditative practice improves:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • focus
  • positive emotions
  • blood pressure
  • pain
  • immune system

At Intuition Wellness Center, we believe in the healing power of being mindfully present moment-to-moment, which can be cultivated through regular mindful meditative practice. Many of our clinicians incorporate mindfulness practices into their clinical work with clients. We also host mindfulness meditation groups for teens and adults who want to try an alternative approach to healing.
