“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupery in The Little Prince

Hi. I’m Amy Cormode. I’m a licensed associate counselor. But you can also think of me as your family’s “holder of hope.” I’m someone who sees the best in everyone and believes in the power of connection to heal.

I am passionate about helping children and families understand themselves and each other more deeply… from the inside out. I will come alongside you and your child and nurture the essence of each individual. In a collaborative manner, we will identify and clear obstacles in your way, so that both you and your child feel happier in the world and capable of handling the stresses you face.

I love to support children who want to get on with being themselves but feel like society or people in their lives are telling them that it’s not okay to be how they are. I’m particularly interested in working with neurodivergent children or children with complex needs. I also enjoy working with families from different cultures.

I believe awareness of the mind-body connection is essential to healing and growth. I look at each child as a unique expression of their physiology, emotions, feelings, thoughts, and experiences. Over the past year, I have begun training in Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART) and use this framework with many of my clients. In our first few sessions, we work together to notice what the child’s senses are telling them and how they can identify what they need.

Over time, I’ve learned that perhaps the most important factor in a child’s ability to function well is their relationship with their primary caregivers. For this reason, I spend a lot of time supporting parents and caregivers so they are able to own their own feelings, affirm their child’s feelings, and learn how to set limits and maintain connection with their child.

If you feel like you are at the end of your rope because your child is having meltdowns, every day feels like a struggle, and you’re tired of fighting, I’m here to offer you a space to grow and to help you learn how to have fun together again. I know from a lifetime of working with children and families, and from experience as a mother myself, that the ways that we think about and talk to our children matter, and it is never too late to repair or make changes in our relationship.

Once we start to work together, you may be surprised to discover that therapy is more fun than you think. Ready to find hope and connection? Give Intuition Wellness a call at 520-333-3320 or click here to submit an appointment request online.
