SENSORY INTEGRATION THERAPY
Sensory Integration Therapy is designed to help the nervous system organize sensory input via tactile, vestibular, proprioceptive, auditory and visually-based activities. Once the child’s system is organized, they will be able to learn and/or complete meaningful tasks.
Listening Therapy is a home-based program that is taught in sessions that utilizes specially altered music to enhance brain functions. Changes have been made in attention, fine motor skills, communication, social skills, and overall coordination as a result of Listening Therapy.
Neuro-Developmental Therapy facilitates normal developmental motor patterns while inhibiting abnormal patterns to achieve functional tasks. Focus will be placed on muscle strengthening and active participation in motor tasks.
FINE MOTOR DEVELOPMENT
Once the origin of the fine motor problem has been identified in the evaluation, a treatment program is designed which may include strengthening, dexterity, perceptual motor and/or coordination exercises. In some cases adaptive equipment may be utilized to improve fine motor development.
Manual therapy involves a variety of handling techniques utilized to facilitate change at a cellular level to enhance all body functions and overcome neuromotor limitations. With the added input, the child can integrate this information for an adaptive movement.
Pediatric occupational therapy incorporates other treatments such as Kinesiotaping for muscle alignment, elongation, support, and/or strengthening as well as education, linking to resources, and activities for home programs.
