“If we are not fully ourselves, truly in the present moment, we miss everything. When a child presents himself to you with his smile, if you are not really there… then the child is not really there for you.” — Thich Nhat Hanh

Hi, I’m Selene. I am a third-year School Psychology doctoral student at the University of Arizona, completing my Mental Health Practicum at Intuition Wellness Center under the supervision of Dr. Brandy Baker. Before entering my doctoral program, I earned a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health, which gives me a unique systems-based, life-course perspective when supporting families. I have also deepened my training through a fellowship with Arizona Leadership Education in Neurodevelopment Disorders (ArizonaLEND) at the University of Arizona Department of Pediatrics.

How I Help My therapeutic approach is deeply client-centered. I believe that everyone possesses an innate capacity for resilience, growth, and healing. Above all, my goal is to provide a warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative space where children, adolescents, emerging adults, and parents feel truly seen, heard, and valued. Depending on each client’s unique needs, I integrate evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Child-Centered Play Therapy.

You can come to me for support with:

  • Children, Teens, and Young Adults

  • Anxiety and Depression

  • Trauma

  • ADHD

My “Why” Both my research and professional experience have shown me that today’s youth are facing some of the most unique and challenging circumstances of any generation, which profoundly impacts their mental health and wellbeing. I know that seeking help can feel intimidating and overwhelming. My goal is to be a welcoming face who makes taking that first step a little bit easier.

Outside the Office When I’m not working, you can find me teaching a yoga class, hiking (when it’s not too hot out!), reading a good book, or traveling.
